Welcome back to our blog!
If you've continued to read, I'm guessing you are somewhat interested in succulents. You might even be ready to buy your own. If you are anything like me, you probably want to make sure you are getting the best deal on your succulent or you want a particular kind of succulent. You also want to make sure you are putting you succulent in the best position to survive. For each person, the main purpose in investing in a succulent will be different. This post will hopefully give you a better idea of when you should buy a succulent.
As covered in many of the previous posts, succulents are great because they can survive with minimal care. One thing they cannot survive in is freezing temperatures. Therefore, if you live in a place that gets freezing you need to be more aware of your succulents. During seasons that are freezing one needs to make sure they bring their outdoor succulents indoors. Succulents thrive in hot, dry temperatures. One also needs to be aware of rainfall in their area. The leading cause of death of succulents is over watering. If one has outdoor succulents, they need to make sure that during heavy rain they hide the succulents from all of that water. Indoor succulents are much easier to care for. The surroundings of an indoor succulent are not as extreme and are easier to maintain. If one wants to buy succulents that they are going to keep inside, the season or time of year does not matter as much as outdoor succulents.
For indoor succulents the time to buy has more to do with the value of the succulent. Succulents vary in price and variety. When the demand is high so is the price, and vice versa. Many people want to buy plants in the spring/summer. Therefore, the spring and summer are times where succulents’ prices are way higher than the other seasons. These are also times where there will be the greatest number of succulents to choose from. This is good if one wants a particular kind of succulent. It is also good because one can make sure to get a good quality succulent. The best time to buy a succulent price wise is around the fall/when temperatures start to drop. Many people do not wish to decorate with live plants during this time. So many stores do not choose to have an abundance of succulents in stock. Therefore, they have sales on the ones on hand. This is good if you're looking for a good price. This is not good however, because the only ones left are the ones no one else wanted.
There are pros and cons to every season/time period of buying a succulent. Which one is right for you? You can decide what you are looking for most in a succulent and see what time period is best for that desire. Hopefully reading this post gives you a better idea of when you want to buy a succulent. If you are still unsure you can always order online. Now days, there are even websites one can buy a succulent and they will deliver it right to your doorstep. You can also sign up for emails and they will let you know when they are having deals and you can decide from that when to buy. There are many options to choose from.
