A Day in the Life of a Succulent

Waking up this morning, I loved getting to see the sun! I watched it from the window, and leaned all the way towards it, as far as I could, so that I could get as close as possible. It was one of those days where the sun is the brightest, no clouds or fog or anything blocking it. I stayed there for a while, leaning towards that brilliant fireball, and then Madison finally came over to say good morning to me. She doesn’t come visit me as early as I would like her to, but I know she isn’t a morning person so that’s okay. But do you know what isn’t okay? She keeps telling me that she is going to get me a friend, another plant to add cuteness to this windowsill with me, and she has yet to. We are going to have to have a serious talk about that soon.

It’s about noon now and my back is getting sore. I am also really thirsty. I used to drink way too much, and I was getting mushy and moldy and it was so gross. But Madison and I figured out a better system now where I get to drink only on Tuesdays and Fridays. It is Monday right now, so I have to wait until tomorrow, I guess. I am always really thirsty by the time Tuesday rolls around, but it’s worth it to let my soil dry out enough to make sure I am ready for more water. Speaking of my soil, I love it! It is a brand-new mixture of even parts of perlite, coarse sand, crushed granite, and a little bit of gravel. My drainage is so quick, and I feel so much less congested than I did with that old potting soil!
It’s 2:00pm right now and I’m getting turned! I make sure to get turned away from the sun once every day. Otherwise my back stays too sore and I get crooked for too long and my face starts to fry a little bit! That sun is a dangerously powerful thing, but I always end up going back to her. (It’s a weird relationship and my friends say they don’t get it, but I am figuring it out).
Finally, my day is coming to an end. The sun is setting, and I am heartbroken about it, but it is time for me to close up for the night and rest until I get to see the sun again tomorrow! I really cannot wait, but I am going to have to for now. It’s watering day tomorrow too! Oh, how I am so excited!! Now I really need to get some sleep.
Good night!
If only Madison would turn off the TV so we could get some darkness in here…
